light hemispheric backscatter coefficient
DEFINITION
- Exponent in Lambert-Beer’s law quantifying how much light is removed from an incident light beam while passing through a sample of unit depth exclusively by being scattered away from the incident direction into the backward hemisphere relative to the incident direction.
- The volume hemispheric backscattering coefficient is the fractional change of radiative flux per unit path length due to the stated process, in this case particle induced light scattering into the backwards hemisphere relative to the incident light beam.
