DEFINITION
- Exponent in Lambert-Beer’s law quantifying how much light is removed from an incident light beam while passing through a sample of unit depth, exclusively by being absorbed by the sample.
- The volume absorption coefficient is the fractional change of radiative flux per unit path length due to the stated process.
