DEFINITION
- Device for analysing the chemical composition of a gaseous or vapourisable sample by passing it through a column of extended length, where the column is heated with a defined temperature program. The time for a component to pass through the column depends on the chemical nature of the component, which can thereby be identified and quantified by logging the amount of sample exiting the column.
