DEFINITION
- Solar flux is the downwlling solar irradiance in the shortwave spectral range (typically 0.3–4.0 µm, or as defined by the instrument) incident on the Earth’s surface per unit area, expressed in watts per square meter (W m⁻²). It is the sum of direct and diffuse solar radiation and is often referred to as global radiation or global irradiance.
